I just learned this and had no idea I could!

Putting a shortuct inside my windows folder, then whatever I name the shortcut is what I type in the run box. Amazing!

While looking this up, I came across the following article. Now, I found this article interesting, but confusing! *loll!*

PS. Is there a downside to this windows shortcut trick?

Ok, I am bubbling over with information!

Environment variables!? Lol, I had no idea they existed in my pc! I just learned this to further my run command experience!

1. Create a folder for your shortcuts under your user folder, eg, c:documents and settingsusernameshortcuts
2. Right click My Computer, click properties.
3. Click the advanced tab.
4. Click the Environment Variables button at the bottom of the tab.
5. Under user variables, add a new variable named "Path".
6. Enter %homedrive%%homepath%shortcuts for the variable value.**
7. Create shortcuts and plop them in the shortcuts folder you created.

Such a tidy way to create and store my own run command shortcuts! The only thing I've run into, is I think my shortcut names need to be one word. I tried for my pictures, and windows didn't like that. But this is amazing! I can now type rip, in the run dialogue box, and my rip music folder opens!

Wow! Is all I can say!

Keep going, you're doing fine.

I knew about the run command but hadn't thought of the environment variables.

Your enthusiasm is paying off for all of us.
